A field of diamonds in ivory and black. Every knot placed by hand.
Patient hands. One loom. One runner — never to be repeated.
Woven in natural ivory, warm sand, and deep undyed black, this Moroccan runner was made in Taznakht, at the foot of the Anti-Atlas mountains, by skilled Amazigh women artisans working knot by knot across a field of repeating diamond-floral motifs. The construction is fully hand-knotted pile — dense, plush, and built to last underfoot for decades. The wool is 100% natural sheep's wool; the ivory and black come directly from the fleece, never touched by a dye pot, while the warm sand tones carry a single light wash of pomegranate peel. Every diamond in the lattice was placed by hand, one knot at a time, following a pattern passed down through generations of Taznakht weavers. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
This runner is built around the diamond lattice — one of the oldest and most widely used forms in Amazigh weaving. In the Taznakht tradition, a field of repeating diamonds is understood as continuous protection: each unit a closed shape that holds something safe inside, and together they form an unbroken net across the length of the rug. Walking the length of this runner is, in the weaver's intention, walking through a field of blessings.
Each diamond carries a small central cross or dot motif — a mark the weavers of Taznakht use to signal the four directions, placing a quiet blessing at the centre of each protective form. The diagonal rhythm of the lattice, rather than a straight grid, reflects the Amazigh belief that life does not move in straight lines: it moves in angles, across seasons, across generations.
Ivory and cream carry purity and serenity in the Amazigh colour vocabulary — the undyed fleece is left honest, as it came from the sheep. Black grounds the design, representing the earth and the contrast that gives light its meaning. The warm sand tones sit between, connecting the two: warmth, welcome, the colour of hearthstone. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif in this lattice carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — repeated across the field, they read like a continuous, quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
There is almost no dye in this rug. The ivory and the black come straight from the natural colour of the wool itself — no copper pot, no pigment, nothing added. Only the warm sand tones carry a single, light plant wash.
The ivory and black that make up most of this rug are not dyed at all — they come from the natural colour of wool sheared from different sheep, blended and knotted exactly as they are.
Perfect Spaces
At 77 × 28 in (196 × 71 cm), this runner works beautifully in long, narrow spaces where its quiet diamond lattice can be appreciated fully with every pass.
The runner shape brings handmade texture and the calm rhythm of its diamond lattice to long passages — understated enough for any home, distinctive enough to be remembered.
A welcoming first layer — the ivory field brightens a threshold while the hand-knotted pile holds up to daily foot traffic without losing its texture.
A low-profile wool accent that softens a practical working space — the neutral ivory and black palette sits cleanly against cabinetry of any colour.
A narrow, comfortable textile underfoot beside the bed — the dense hand-knotted pile is soft underfoot first thing in the morning, and the ivory field lifts the light in the room.
Hung vertically, the diagonal lattice becomes a woven artwork — the repeating diamond field reads as a composed graphic pattern, quietly confident against any wall.
May this runner bring elegance, comfort, and warmth to your home, and may it surround your loved ones with serenity and joy. — The Artisan's Blessing
