Stacked diamonds. Six colours of earth. Two sides to love.
Nearly three weeks of work. The hands of Moroccan women artisans. One loom. One kilim — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in Morocco by skilled women artisans, this multicolor and red flatweave kilim is built from 100% natural wool — dyed with madder root, natural indigo, pomegranate peel, and henna over the course of nearly three weeks. Its defining feature is a column of bold stacked diamonds, each one filled with horizontal bands of shifting colour: terracotta, olive, navy, gold, slate, cream. Reversible by design, the same pattern emerges from both faces with equal clarity and durability. Every irregularity in the weave is the trace of a human hand, working at its own pace. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
In Amazigh weaving, the diamond is the oldest and most widely used form — a symbol of protection drawn around the family, the home, and everyone who passes through. Stacked in a vertical column, as they are here, diamonds repeat that protection generation after generation, one lozenge nested above the next.
The horizontal stripe bands filling each diamond carry their own reading: red speaks to strength and the continuity of life; olive and green to the land and the growth that sustains it; navy and indigo to calm and the shelter of the sky; gold to warmth and welcome; and the pale cream and slate to the quiet steadiness that holds everything together.
The artisan who wove this rug imagined the entire design herself — no two are alike in the way the colours move and meet inside each diamond. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each element in this kilim carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing woven into the floor of your home.
Color from the Earth
Every colour in this rug comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The olive green and warm terracotta are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the three base pigments by hand.
The pale cream and cool slate tones are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At 38 × 29 in (97 × 74 cm), this kilim works beautifully in compact, intentional spaces where a small burst of colour and handmade character makes all the difference.
A welcoming detail that introduces the home with Moroccan character — the diamonds greet every arrival with colour and warmth.
The bold diamond column is as striking hung vertically as it is laid flat — a piece of cultural textile art that needs no frame.
A compact layer of colour, softness, and handmade presence — placed in any corner, it immediately gives the space a sense of intention.
Small scale and soft natural wool make this kilim easy to place beside a bed — the first and last thing your feet find each day.
Colour and texture help define a quiet personal corner — this kilim anchors a chair and a lamp into a space worth returning to.
May this rug soften your steps and brighten your days. May the diamonds keep your home protected and your family close. May it bring warmth to every corner and quiet joy to your heart. — The Artisan's Blessing
