Will my rug shed?
A small amount of shedding is normal for the first 2–3 weeks with any handwoven Moroccan rug — these are loose fibers from the weaving process settling out. After that, gentle weekly vacuuming on low power keeps the rug looking new for decades. Avoid rotating beater-brush vacuums on natural wool — use suction only. How do I know my rug is truly handmade?
Every TazRugs piece ships with a signed certificate of authenticity from the Iznaguen Women's Cooperative in Taznakht, naming the artisan who wove it. We're also certified by the Moroccan Artisan Label (a government-backed authenticity guarantee) and STEP Fair Trade (independent verification of ethical labor). Authentic handmade rugs also have small irregularities — slightly uneven edges, tiny knot variations, color shifts in the dye. If yours looks perfectly uniform, it isn't handmade. How long does shipping take from Morocco?
7 to 10 business days worldwide via DHL, FedEx, or Aramex with full tracking. We ship from Casablanca and deliver to the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, and most other countries. How do I clean and care for my rug?
•Unroll immediately upon arrival : to avoid creases from shipping. Any slight folds will naturally relax over time — don’t worry.
•Vacuum regularly : on low power and avoid rotating brushes. Some wool shedding during the first few days is completely normal.
•Spot clean spills immediately : using cold water and a mild detergent.
•Natural refresh : Sprinkle a mix of baking soda and coarse salt, leave for 1–2 hours, then vacuum thoroughly.
•Professional cleaning : Recommended every 2–3 years or for deeper soiling.
•Storage : Fold carefully and place in a breathable cover with a sachet of dried lavender.
•Air it out occasionally : Light sun exposure on sunny days helps keep your rug fresh.

Are the colors exactly as shown in the photos?
Very close, but slight variation is part of the craft. Every dye is mixed by hand in copper pots in Morocco using traditional Amazigh techniques, and every screen renders color slightly differently. Photos are taken in natural daylight to keep them as honest as possible. If you'd like extra detail photos before you order, message us — we're happy to share more.
Is the rug safe for kids and pets?
Yes. The wool is hand-spun from Atlas Mountain sheep, the dyes are plant and mineral-based, and there are no chemical treatments anywhere in the rug. Natural wool is also flame-resistant and stain-resistant thanks to its natural lanolin — making it one of the safest floor coverings for children and animals. This applies to all our pieces, including soft Beni Ourain rugs for nurseries and durable rugs flatweave kilims for high-traffic rooms.
Is it truly one-of-a-kind?
Yes — every rug is designed and woven by a single Amazigh artisan, entirely from her own imagination. No pattern or paper guide is used; each piece is a personal expression of the weaver’s story, emotions, and creativity.
Once a rug is sold, that exact piece can never truly be reproduced. Even with a custom order, there will always be slight differences, because every handmade rug carries its own unique soul
