An indigo field. Scattered diamonds. A quiet blessing for every room.
Five weeks of work. The hands of Moroccan women artisans. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in Taznakht, Morocco by skilled women artisans over roughly five weeks, this flatweave kilim is built around a single deep colour — a pure indigo blue that runs the full field, dyed in the traditional way from natural indigo stone. Scattered across that calm ground are small polychrome geometric diamonds and cross-motifs, each stitched in red, white, gold, teal, and black — a kind of quiet conversation between colour and restraint. The border carries a continuous zigzag in the same palette, framing the field without competing with it. Made from 100% natural sheep's wool, the construction is a flat, low-profile weave — durable, easy underfoot, and honest about what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Entirely imagined and designed by the artisan, this rug reflects harmony, calm, and heritage. The dominant indigo blue is among the most meaningful colours in Amazigh weaving — it speaks to protection, serenity, and the sky over the Anti-Atlas. A blue field is not merely a background; it is an intention, a field of calm laid down for everyone who walks across it.
The scattered diamond and cross motifs placed freely across the field carry their own significance. In Amazigh tradition, the diamond protects the family unit; the four-point cross extends that blessing outward to every corner of the home. Their variety — different colours, slightly different scales — reflects the artisan's freedom, the understanding that no two blessings are identical.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif is placed freely across the indigo field — no two positioned the same way, no pattern repeated exactly.
Color from the Earth
The dominant blue of this rug comes from a single source: natural indigo stone, dissolved slowly in a copper pot and drawn into the wool over a long dye bath. The accent colours scattered across the motifs are built from the same plant-based tradition — root, peel, and fleece.
The teal green of the diamond centres is not a separate dye — it is made by over-dyeing yellow over indigo by hand.
The cream and black accent stitching in the motifs are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At 79 × 39 in (201 × 99 cm), this rug has the scale to anchor a room — generous enough for a seating area, distinctive enough to carry a wall.
A warm, grounding centrepiece that anchors a seating area with handmade texture and a calm indigo tone.
Soft wool texture and a naturally dyed blue make the room feel settled, calm, and considered.
A tactile layer that makes a quiet corner feel warmer, more personal, and worth staying in longer.
Natural wool and a grounded indigo pattern soften a focused work area without distracting from it.
The woven design reads beautifully at height — a collected textile that brings depth and Moroccan craft to any wall.
May your home always feel peaceful, balanced, and filled with warmth. May this rug bring comfort, beauty, and harmony to your every day. — The Artisan's Blessing
