Scattered signs. A field of cream. A blessing for your home.
Five weeks of work. The hands of Amazigh women. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
Handwoven on a cream wool field, this white Moroccan rug carries a scatter of colourful Amazigh symbols across its surface — crosses, chevrons, zigzags, and small geometric forms worked in terracotta, ochre, dusty rose, sage, and black. Made in Taznakht, Morocco, in the Anti-Atlas foothills, by Amazigh women artisans over roughly five weeks, it is 100% natural sheep's wool, naturally dyed with plant pigments and accented with the undyed black and cream of the wool itself. The knotted pile construction gives it a soft, raised texture — each motif slightly three-dimensional underfoot. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
In Amazigh weaving, a scattered field of symbols is not chaos — it is a map. Each motif was imagined by the artisan as she worked, placed freely across the cream ground in the rhythm of her own thought. Cross forms speak of the four directions and the protection of a home at its centre. Chevrons and zigzags carry the flow of water, movement, and life continuing forward. Small dotted clusters and N-shaped figures are private marks, personal to the weaver's tradition.
The cream ground holds everything — in Amazigh colour meaning, white and natural cream represent purity, openness, and the clarity of an uncluttered mind. The warm terracotta and rose signal life and strength; the ochre and gold call in warmth and welcome; the sage and dusty green speak of growth and the land; the black is the natural fleece of the dark sheep, the honest dark that balances light.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing scattered freely across a field of cream.
Color from the Earth
Every colour in this rug comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The dusty pinks and warm terracottas are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the base pigments by hand.
The cream ground and the black motifs are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At 65 × 41 in (165 × 104 cm), this rug works beautifully as a grounding centrepiece in rooms that want warmth without weight.

A welcoming detail that introduces the home with Moroccan character — the scattered motifs say something before a word is spoken.
A tactile layer that makes a quiet corner feel warmer and more personal — the kind of rug you notice more the longer you sit with it.
Natural wool and a scattered, playful pattern soften a focused work area without distracting from it.
May this rug bring calm, warmth, and quiet comfort into your home. May its natural wool remind you of patient hands, honest materials, and peaceful days. — The Artisan's Blessing
