Description

This Patchwork Moroccan Rug is a one-of-a-kind handmade wool rug from Taznakht, Morocco, made by Amazigh women artisans using 100% natural sheep’s wool. Measuring 48 x 82 in (122 x 208 cm), it combines a dusty blue-grey, terracotta, saffron amber and creamy beige palette, hand-knotted patchwork construction, and authentic Moroccan craftsmanship into a lived-in home. It was woven over 7–9 weeks and naturally coloured without chemical dyes, preserving the slow rhythm of handmade work. The design includes diamond-eye motifs, chevron zigzags, giving the rug a clear visual identity rather than a generic pattern.

Meaning & Symbolism

Each of the twenty squares carries a unique ancient Amazigh symbol: chevron zigzags representing life’s journey, floral rosettes symbolizing fertility and joy, Tifinagh-inspired characters honoring the Amazigh written language, diamond-eye motifs for protection, and fish-scale arches echoing the architecture of the Atlas. The dusty blue-grey, terracotta, saffron amber and creamy beige palette keeps the piece visually specific and closely tied to the materials described for this rug. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory and daily use.

"May this rug bring protection from any harm. May it bring warmth to your home and quiet joy to your heart."

Care Guide

Unroll immediately upon arrival to avoid creases from shipping. Any slight folds will naturally relax over time — don’t worry.

Vacuum regularly on low power and avoid rotating brushes. Some wool shedding during the first few days is completely normal.

Spot clean spills immediately using cold water and a mild detergent.

Natural refresh: Sprinkle a mix of baking soda and coarse salt, leave for 1–2 hours, then vacuum thoroughly.

Professional cleaning: Recommended every 2–3 years or for deeper soiling.

Storage: Fold carefully and place in a breathable cover with a sachet of dried lavender.

Air it out occasionally: Light sun exposure on sunny days helps keep your rug fresh.

Go behind the scenes of our rug-making process — 100% handmade, from raw wool to finished piece.

Moroccan Rug Craftsmanship

This handwoven Moroccan wool rug comes from Taznakht, a region in Morocco renowned for its traditional Amazigh rug weaving. For generations, women artisans have transformed natural wool into beautiful handmade rugs using techniques passed down from mother to daughter.

Each rug is imagined and designed freely by the artisan, inspired by her creativity, life experiences, and Amazigh cultural symbols. No patterns are copied, which makes every piece truly unique.

The wool is naturally dyed using traditional plant-based dyes, a centuries-old practice that gives Moroccan rugs their rich, organic colors while remaining eco-friendly and chemical-free.

Every Moroccan artisan rug takes weeks to complete and carries the story, imagination, patience, and heritage of the woman who created it.
