A hundred stripes. One quiet eye. Color for your home.
Six weeks of work. The hands of Amazigh women. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
This handwoven multicolor Moroccan kilim rug was made in the village of Taznakht, in the foothills of Morocco's Anti-Atlas Mountains. It was woven on a vertical loom by Amazigh women artisans over roughly six weeks of patient work — line by line, never copied, never repeated. Made entirely from 100% natural sheep's wool, dyed with plant-based pigments, and built as a reversible flatweave that can be styled from either side. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
This rug carries no single large emblem. Its meaning lives in the colour itself and in the small dotted bands woven through the stripes. Entirely designed by the artisans, it blends traditional Amazigh colour language with their own free, modern expression — the bold, shifting lines stand for energy, creativity, and joy.
Each colour speaks: red for strength and life, blue for protection and calm, green for growth and the land, gold for warmth and welcome, and the natural cream and black wool for honesty and the balance between light and dark. Read together, the stripes are a quiet record of the days they were woven.
Within the bands sit rows of tiny alternating dots — small eye motifs. When we asked the artisan what she meant by weaving them in, she said they were there to watch over the home and turn away harm. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
This is a striped flatweave, so its language is carried in colour and in two small woven signs that repeat through the bands.
Color from the Earth
Every colour in this rug comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The greens, warm oranges, and plum tones in the stripes are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the three base pigments by hand.
The cream and dark threads running through the rug are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At 75 × 49 in (190 × 124 cm), this rug works as a grounding anchor in rooms that need warmth and texture — and being reversible, it can be turned over to refresh a space.

"May your home be filled with color, warmth, and happiness. May the rhythm of these stripes bring energy and joy to your days, and may the watchful eyes woven within keep you, your family, and your home safe in every corner." — The Artisan's Blessing
