Flatwoven across four to five weeks on a traditional loom, this Moroccan kilim carries a bold field of interlocking triangles — each one filled with its own set of horizontal stripes in a different combination of colour. Made in Taznakht, Morocco, in the Anti-Atlas foothills, by Amazigh women artisans, the construction is a true flatweave kilim: thin, tight, reversible on both sides, with no pile and no backing. The border is deep navy — dyed with natural indigo stone — and punctuated by small diamond-eye accents at regular intervals. Inside, the triangles run in madder red, orange, amber, olive, peach, plum, gray, and natural cream, each one striped differently from its neighbour. It is 100% natural sheep's wool. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
In Amazigh weaving, the triangle is the mountain — the shape of shelter, of the Anti-Atlas peaks the artisans look out at from the loom. Pointing upward, it draws strength and protection into the home. Pointing downward, it becomes a vessel, something that holds. Here the triangles interlock, pointing in both directions at once, filling the field with a continuous conversation between sheltering and containing, between the mountain and the valley below it.
The small diamond-eye forms along the navy border are protection marks — in Amazigh tradition, the eye watches over the threshold and keeps harm from entering. The deep navy of the border is the colour of calm and protection; the madder reds speak of life and energy; the olive greens carry the land; the ambers and oranges call in warmth and welcome. Each triangle holds its own stripe palette, imagined freely by the artisan as she worked — no two are identical.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.

Color from the Earth
Every colour in this kilim comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The olive green, warm orange, and plum tones are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the three base pigments by hand.
The cream and gray tones are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
