Eye and geometry. Every colour from the earth. A blessing woven into every row.
Six weeks of work. The hands of Moroccan women artisans. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in Morocco by skilled women artisans over roughly six weeks, this flatweave kilim carries a full spectrum of colour — deep red, slate blue, burnt orange, golden ochre, forest green, natural cream, and black — all woven into a reversible flatweave construction from 100% natural sheep's wool. The colours come from plant-based dyes dissolved in copper pots: madder root for the reds, natural indigo stone for the blues, pomegranate peel for the golds, then over-dyed and layered by hand to build every secondary tone. The design is composed of eye motifs, geometric shapes, and abstract horizontal bands — a living expression of Amazigh craft tradition. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Entirely imagined and designed by the artisans, this rug carries the full weight of Amazigh visual language. The eye motif — small, scattered across the surface — is among the oldest symbols in Moroccan weaving. It is placed deliberately, as a quiet shield against harm, watching over the household from beneath your feet.
The geometric bands and abstract shapes running across the field speak to balance and order — the Amazigh understanding that a home with clear structure is a home at peace. The interplay of colour carries its own meaning: red for strength and the vitality of life, blue for protection and calm, gold for warmth and welcome, green for growth and the land, cream and black for the honesty of natural wool and the balance of light and dark.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
Every colour in this rug comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The burnt orange, forest green, and burgundy tones are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the three base pigments by hand.
The cream and black tones are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At 57 × 26 in (145 × 66 cm), this rug works beautifully in compact, intentional spaces where a single piece can carry the room.
The soft wool texture and layered natural colour make the room feel calm and fully settled.
The wool surface adds warmth and craft around a table, grounding the meal in something handmade.
A durable handmade accent that brings rhythm and colour to a passage between rooms.
A welcoming detail that introduces the home with genuine Moroccan character from the first step.
A tactile layer that makes a quiet corner feel warmer, more personal, and worth returning to.
May your home always be filled with color, happiness, and warmth. May every space you walk through bring joy, harmony, and positive energy. — The Artisan's Blessing
