Two rugs. One vision. A burst of colour for your home.
Seven weeks of work. The hands of Amazigh women. One loom, twice. Two rugs — never to be repeated.
Two handwoven Moroccan rugs — a matched pair — made in Taznakht in the Anti-Atlas foothills by skilled Amazigh women over roughly seven weeks. Woven in a reversible flatweave construction, each rug carries a bold chevron-based geometric pattern in a vivid multicolor palette: deep red, forest green, marigold yellow, slate blue, natural cream, and black. The wool is 100% natural sheep's wool, plant-dyed using time-tested pigments — madder root, natural indigo, and pomegranate peel. No two rugs in this pair are identical in size, and no pair like this will ever be made again. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Entirely imagined by the artisans, this twin set carries the full spirit of Moroccan weaving tradition. The dominant motif — a bold downward-pointing chevron, repeated across both pieces — is an Amazigh symbol of movement, life's flow, and the connection between the earthly and the divine. Stacked and mirrored, the chevrons read as mountains, river bends, or the rhythm of seasons: a landscape woven by memory.
The multicolor palette is deliberate and layered with meaning. Red speaks of strength and protection. Green carries the land and growth. Golden yellow is warmth and welcome at the threshold. Blue calms and guards. Black and cream together hold the balance of light and dark — honesty without artifice. Together, the colours do not compete; they move.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
Every colour in this pair comes from one of two sources: a plant-based pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural colour of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made colour.
The forest green and warm orange are not separate dyes — they are made by layering and over-dyeing the three base pigments by hand.
The black and cream tones are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural colour of the wool, sheared from different sheep.
Perfect Spaces
At Rug 1: 36 × 27 in (92 × 69 cm) · Rug 2: 38 × 26 in (97 × 67 cm), this matching pair works beautifully wherever symmetry, warmth, and handmade colour are welcome. Each rug is also reversible — two sides to style.
The matching pieces create balance and softness on both sides of the bed — a symmetrical landing for the start and end of every day.
The pair adds symmetry, colour and natural wool texture to a bedroom without crowding it — a quiet presence on either side of the room.
Two small rugs can frame a threshold or divide nearby zones with warmth — a welcoming handmade gesture at the first step inside.
Each rug creates a small handmade landing place for daily rituals — a reading chair, a meditation spot, a moment of stillness with colour underfoot.
The twin format can be displayed as a balanced textile composition — hung side by side, they make a striking, gallery-worthy wall piece.
May every corner of your home be filled with warmth, colour, and joy. May these rugs surround you with comfort, beauty, and success every day. — The Artisan's Blessing
