Nested diamonds. A field of contrast. A blessing for your home.
Weeks of work. The hands of Amazigh women. One loom. One runner — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in natural black and cream wool, this Moroccan runner was made in Taznakht, Morocco, in the high Anti-Atlas foothills. Skilled women artisans worked the loom over several weeks, building a continuous lattice of nested concentric diamonds across a finely textured flatweave ground. The wool is 100% natural sheep's wool — the black drawn from dark-fleeced sheep, the cream from light, nothing dyed. Its reversible flatweave construction means both faces carry the same quiet geometry. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Entirely imagined by the artisans, this runner celebrates the harmony of contrast. Its nested diamond motifs — concentric squares turned on their points, stacked in columns from one end of the runner to the other — are among the oldest forms in Amazigh weaving. Each ring within a ring speaks to protection: the outer diamond guards, the inner holds the household safe.
The eye motifs woven into the field carry the artisan's clearest intention — protection from harm. Set against the speckled ground, they watch quietly in every direction. The geometric lattice surrounding them speaks to balance, order, and the long tradition of Amazigh craft.
The palette — natural black and natural cream — is the most honest statement a rug can make: no dye, only the wool's own colour. In Amazigh tradition, this pairing conveys honesty, the balance of light and dark, and a quiet confidence that needs no embellishment. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
There is no dye in this rug at all. Every tone you see is the natural colour of the wool itself, exactly as it came from the sheep — no copper pot, no pigment, nothing added.
The soft contrast across the surface — the deep black geometric lines set against a warm cream field — comes only from blending fleece sheared from different sheep. This natural difference is what gives an undyed rug its quiet depth.
Perfect Spaces
At 55 × 27 in (140 × 69 cm), this runner works beautifully in long, intentional spaces where handmade texture and quiet pattern can be appreciated underfoot or overhead.
The runner shape brings handmade texture and warmth to long passages — the continuous diamond lattice leads the eye from one end to the other.
A welcoming first layer with Moroccan character — the black-and-cream palette sits quietly against any wall colour, making it an easy choice for a front door.
A low-profile wool accent that softens a practical working space — the undyed palette is forgiving beside natural stone, wood, or white cabinetry.
A narrow, comfortable textile underfoot beside the bed — the cream-and-black geometry is calm enough for a bedroom and interesting enough to notice each morning.
The continuous diamond pattern reads as woven textile art when displayed vertically — the monochrome palette lets the geometry do all the work.
May your home always feel balanced, calm, and full of harmony. May the diamonds keep your family protected, and may this runner bring both style and comfort to every step you take. — The Artisan's Blessing
