Four diamonds. One zigzag. A blessing of balance for your home.
Weeks at the loom. The hands of Amazigh women. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in natural cream and dark wool, this Moroccan rug was made in Taznakht, in the Anti-Atlas foothills of southern Morocco, by skilled women artisans working a single loom. The wool is 100% natural sheep's wool, entirely undyed — every tone you see came directly from the fleece, not from any dye pot. A lattice of large overlapping diamonds anchors the field, edged on both sides by a dense zigzag border worked in near-black natural wool. The knot work is dense and patient, tied row by row across the width of the loom. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Entirely imagined and hand-knotted by the artisan, this rug celebrates harmony, balance, and natural beauty. In Amazigh weaving, the diamond is one of the oldest and most fundamental symbols — it stands for protection, the family bond, and the eye that watches over a home. Four large diamonds placed across the field read as a quiet, repeated blessing: one for each corner of a life well lived.
The zigzag border that frames the field on both sides carries its own meaning. In the Amazigh tradition, the zigzag traces the flow of life — water, movement, the passage of seasons. Running continuously along the length of the rug, it seals the diamonds inside a circuit of steady, unbroken energy.
The interplay of natural cream and dark wool — no dye, no addition — speaks to honesty and the balance of light and dark: two things that belong together and always have. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
There is no dye in this rug at all. Every tone you see is the natural colour of the wool itself, exactly as it came from the sheep — no copper pot, no pigment, nothing added.
The soft variation across the surface — the warm ivory of the field and the near-black of the diamond outlines and border — comes only from blending fleece sheared from different sheep. This natural difference is what gives an undyed rug its quiet depth.
Perfect Spaces
At 63 × 39 in (160 × 99 cm), this rug works beautifully in rooms that need a grounded, handmade anchor without adding colour.
A warm, grounding centrepiece that anchors a seating area with handmade texture and a timeless black-and-white pattern.
Soft wool texture and undyed natural colour make the room feel calm and settled — restful without being plain.
A tactile layer underfoot that makes a quiet corner feel warmer, more personal, and considered.
The bold diamond lattice and contrast zigzag border display beautifully as cultural textile art hung on a pale wall.
A compact layer of softness, handmade presence, and graphic pattern that brings any quiet corner to life.
May your home be filled with balance, peace, and harmony. May the diamonds keep your family protected, and may this rug bring clarity, comfort, and serenity to every corner of your life. — The Artisan's Blessing
