Black bands. Watchful eyes. A blessing for your home.
Three weeks of work. One artisan. One loom. One rug — never to be repeated.
This handwoven black and white Moroccan rug was made by Moroccan women artisans, working on a vertical loom over roughly three weeks of patient work — thread by thread, never copied, never repeated. It combines flatweave and hand-knotted texture in a single surface, so dense pile motifs sit raised against smooth, low-profile bands. Made entirely from 100% natural wool, this is not a reproduction — it was entirely imagined by the artisan who made it. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
Across the rug, rhombus-shaped "eye" motifs sit in steady rows along the black bands — traditional Amazigh symbols meant to protect your home from harm and negative energy. Each eye watches outward, a quiet guardian set in place by the artisan's hand.
Around them, finer geometric bands and small diamonds add rhythm to the composition, framing the eyes and carrying the same protective intention through every line.
The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use — a living blessing for your space.
The Symbols on This Rug
Each motif carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for your home.
Color from the Earth
Every color in this rug comes from one of two sources: a traditional pigment dissolved in a copper pot, or the natural color of the wool itself, straight from the sheep. Nothing is bought as a ready-made color.
The bright orange and small touches of green and blue across the eye motifs are built from layered pigment baths — never from separate ready-made dyes.
The deep black bands and the cream and white fields are not dyed at all — they come straight from the natural color of the wool, sheared from different sheep.

At 46 × 27 in (117 × 69 cm), this rug works beautifully in compact, intentional spaces.
